Happy Mother's Day

 Today I'll wear my grandmother's necklace since it's Mother's Day.  I never knew her as she passed from cancer at 66 when I was an infant.  She was inflicted with polio as a child and had life-long illnesses.   My other grandmother passed from heart disease very suddenly when I was just five.  I have flashes of memories of her, her lazy Susan on her dining table and Snickers bars in the freezer.  She kinda smelled of vicks and cherry cough drops, but I felt loved in her care.   I remember my great grandmother more.  She passed when I was nine.  Her baking was unmatched!  I remember coming home from school and being greeted by her open arms, slippery in her rayon "house dress."  There were the spoils of her and Mom's day sitting, cooling on the stove.  Cinnamon rolls and golden brown loaves of bread.  Famous all over town for her apple dumplings, she would rock me to the quiet hums of her crooning voice.  Fr...

A Tooth Truth Experience

  My understanding of God's gifts continue to grow.  I take for granted a lot of things.....little things they seem, but they're actually much bigger.  God created us with amazing human bodies that function for us without our even thinking about it.  As I age, and some of you can relate while the rest of you will eventually (😉), I come to appreciate more and more my health.  But there are times when things break down and need repaired like one of my bottom molars did recently.   Doc said I needed to get a crown to preserve it, but that I'd need to have it scaled down and have the decay removed first.  Yesterday ended up being longer in the dentist's chair than I'd predicted, and the drilling wasn't very comfortable at times even after Doc gave me three shots of novacaine.  Not her fault btw.  She kept giving me breaks (bless her) and encouraged me saying that it wouldn't be much longer, but that she had to finish the job and get all the...
